Purely You Minerals Review
I ♥ ♥ ♥ mineral makeup! It’s simple, natural, easy to use, and most importantly safe. If you read the labels of most mainstream makeup (go ahead, search for your current beauty products here – be warned, you’ll most likely wanna throw out your current stash), you’ll come to find they are chock-full of chemicals, synthetics, preservatives, artificial colors and fragrances, fillers, and ingredients that only Beakman or Bill Nye the Science Guy would be able to pronounce.
For example, here are the ingredients for a vegan and cruelty-free brand of liquid foundation (will not say which brand, but just keep in mind that just because something is vegan, it’s not necessarily healthy… same goes for food—Oreos are vegan. ;)): Aqua (Water/Eau), Cyclopentasiloxane, Butylene Glycol, Silica, Cyclohexasiloxane, Dimethicone, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Litchi Chinensis Pericarp Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Tribehenin, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer, Dimethicone/Polyglycerin-3 Crosspolymer, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Polysorbate 20, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Propylene Glycol, Carbomer, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol. All shades may contain: CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491/77492/77499 (Iron Oxides).
Grodes, right? Don’t get me wrong, I totes rock this stuff on occasion, but I always default to mineral makeup when I have the choice.
I recently tried a new-to-me brand of mineral makeup called Purely You Minerals. I’m a fan because their products are light and breathable, highly pigmented, and naturally have SPF15. None of their products contain talc, powdered starches, clays, bismuth oxychloride, parabens or nano size particles. Their products are also gluten-free and cruelty-free. Although some of their cosmetics contain carmine (ingredients for each product can be found on their website), they are making an effort to veganize their entire line. How cool is that?
Here are the swatches of the shades I tried:
What’s your favorite line of mineral makeup?
These products were sent to me for review purposes, but the opinions expressed are my own.
